The Tesla Cybertruck is the next great electric car we get to look forward from everyone’s favorite electric car brand. The electric truck will continue to showcase a further refinement of Tesla’s technological advances and provide an electric option for a segment that doesn’t really have one right now (but will soon have many).
Design aside, one look at what the Cybertruck provides and it shouldn’t be too hard to be convinced to fork over your preorder deposit, but for those that are still on the fence, here are some reasons you should consider going through with a preorder.
The Specs/Utility
As was just previously mentioned, the Tesla Cybertruck will come with some great specifications and utility. First, we look at the most important number for many people buying an electric car, the range. Depending on whether you get a single- dual- or tri-motor Cybertruck, you will get a range of 250+, 300+, and 500+ miles respectively. With Tesla constantly raising the bar when it comes to their range offerings you can almost assume that the final ranges will be more than what is currently listed. That is a great amount of range that is basically enough for anyone’s daily commute. The range also does not come at the expense of power as the tri-motor promises a 0-60 mph time of less than 2.9 seconds.
By virtue of being a pickup truck, the Cybertruck automatically comes with a lot more utility than a standard sedan or SUV. With a truck bed that includes 100 cubic feet of lockable storage, you can haul basically anything that you can think of. And if the truck bed is not enough, then you can just tow it, with a towing capacity ranging from 7,500+ to 14,000+ lbs. depending on which motor configuration you go with.
Tesla has designed the Cybertruck with maximum utility in mind by adding in small features like a 120V and 240V outlets along with an onboard compressor, allowing it to become a mobile job site.
Renders of the Cybertruck also show add-ons such as a tent for the trunk bed as well as a sliding grill/kitchen station that allows the Cybertruck to turn into a camper truck for when you just want to get away for a bit.
Also, it looks sick, but I understand that’s subjective, you may not find it sick, and that’s okay. But the utility is undeniable.
Get FSD Before it Gets More Expensive
Do you like the idea of Full Self Driving cars? Well, you better get in before it goes up in price again.
Aside from Tesla’s advances in electric cars and their powertrains, the brand has been making equal strides into autonomous technology and one day hopes to have your Tesla be able to drive itself. Seen those advanced features like Teslas navigating through stop signs and traffic lights? Well, that’s included in the ever-evolving Full Self-Driving package which Tesla constantly adds features to as they become ready.
The package is a work in progress and as it has been getting more features, it has been becoming more expensive. The most recent price hike came at the beginning of July when it was raised from $7,000 to $8,000. The package will undoubtedly continue to rise in price and it wouldn’t be too surprising if it rises in price again between now and the start of Cybertruck deliveries.
So if FSD is important to you and you already think that the $8,000 price is steep, consider preordering now and lock in the price.
It Might Be a Long Wait in Line
While the design of the Cybertruck was a point of contention and brought up fears of causing decreased sales, it seems that the cyberpunk design has won the hearts of many.
While we do not have an official tally for the current amount of preorders, unofficial community sourced preorder tallies put the total at north of 600,000 orders. Of course, not all of them will go through, but there is still a pretty heaty wait to be had if you have not preordered. While the Cybertruck will have a dedicated factory it will probably be a year or more after production starts before someone ordering today get their Cybertruck.
Securing your place in line now might be the difference between a year wait or a two-year wait.
The Deposit is Refundable
With the $100 deposit being refundable, placing a preorder down is essentially free. You can be free to preorder the Cybertruck today and think your decision over for the next year or so before production begins.
If you decide to move forward with the purchase then good, you’ve secured a potentially cheaper FSD price as well a better place in line. If you end up deciding against it, then just refund the $100 and have yourself a nice dinner.
