Usain Bolt is Building an Electric Car

by Jack

Of all people, Olympic gold medalist and world record holder Usain Bolt is investing into our electric future. If you have not heard already, Bolt backed and became the brand ambassador for Bolt Mobility, a startup focusing in electric scooters and ridesharing.

At the VivaTech show in Paris, France, Bolt Mobility revealed plans for the future with their Bolt Nano, a two passenger electric car.

The Bolt Nano will be available in 2020 with a competitive price tag of $9,999. You can place a deposit today for just $999.

“Through its portfolio of micromobility products, Bolt Mobility fulfills the dream that many of us share to operate in a world where our vehicles will fit perfectly into the fabric of our urban environments while respecting the air we breathe,”

While no specs have been released at this time, we expect a low range from its battery pack. Typically cars of this size are meant for owners who drive less than 15 miles at a time. This category of vehicle is especially popular overseas in high traffic areas.

Bolt Mobility is currently built on a ridesharing platform so it will be interesting to see if the Bolt Nano falls into that category. The company could potentially take the Tesla route and allow owners to share their cars on the Bolt Mobility network as an extra income. The company could also offer them for rent alongside their e-scooters in major cities.

We do not know where the Bolt Nano will be made available, but Bolt Mobility has its headquarters in Miami, FL, so this electric microcar could potentially be hitting the states as soon as next year.
