Polestar 2 US Pricing Lowered to $59,900

Polestar has once again announced US pricing for its upcoming 2021 Polestar 2, this time at a lower price than officially anticipated.

The new price of the Polestar 2 will be set to start at $59,900, about $3,000 less than the original price that was conveyed to us by Polestar. The new price of the Polestar 2, however, does still place it almost $3,000 more than the Tesla Model 3 Performance which will end up being its main competitor.

But unlike Tesla, the Polestar 2 still has EV tax credits that it can take advantage of $7,500 and thanks to its lower price is eligible for additional rebates in states like New York and California (the Model 3 is still eligible for state incentives), making the total rebate up to $9,500, or about 15% of the car’s base price. This no doubt will lower the playing field for the Polestar 2 and make the decision between a Model 3 or Polestar 2 harder.

Gregor Hembrough, Head of Polestar USA was excited about the new lower price, stating:

“We are quite enthusiastic to announce the U.S. pricing for the Polestar 2. The MSRP is lower than we originally targeted, and will be extended to all of our current reservation holders. “With an online purchase option, lower pricing, considerable tax incentives, and production already underway, the Polestar 2 is well positioned for a successful entry into the U.S. market.”

Along with the new pricing for the car, Polestar also announced the pricing of its options for the Polestar 2. In typical electric car fashion, there are not too many options, which should make you configuration experience more straight forward.

I hope you like the color black, because any of the other color options are an additional $1,200.

Also, for those interested in what the Performance Pack includes:

There is no power boost like there is on the Performance Model 3, you will be getting the same 408 hp, 487 lb.-ft. of torque, all-wheel drive, and a 78 kWh battery pack with a range of about 275 miles.

The Polestar 2 is still scheduled to begin its deliveries to US reservation holder this Summer, with production already started.

What do you guys think of the new pricing? With all the tax incentives, how much does this help the Polestar 2 when compared to the Model 3? Let us know down in the comments below.
