The Clarity model name was originally reserved to Honda’s Fuel Cell car in 2008, but in 2016 it bestowed the name onto a BEV and PHEV variant of the car. The car is only available through a $199/month lease and you cannot buy it. The stylings of the car are polarizing and the range from its 25.5kWh is, unremarkable. Frankly 89 miles of range is borderline unacceptable in 2016. This is “city-car” range, but the Clarity is a mid-sized 4 door sedan, something that we wouldn’t really consider a “city-car”. But the lease is fairly cheap, so if you don’t mind the range, and don’t like the Nissan LEAF, Chevy Bolt, or Hyundai Ioniq Electric, then go for it.
